GLENROTHES student, Gary Serbie, had the trip of a lifetime as he learned to fly a Grob Tutor aircraft with the Royal Air Force.

The 17 year-old joined Flight Lieutenant John MacKenzie at East of Scotland Universities Air Squadron, RAF Leuchars, through The Prince’s Trust Scotland following his success on its team programme at Adam Smith College, where he completed a work placement at a local garage.

Since finishing there, Gary has started studying a computing course at the college.

He said: “The flight was brilliantly awesome and I’m glad I got the opportunity to fly with RAF Leuchars.”

Squadron leader, James Lafferty, added: “It is always a pleasure to reward high achieving young people from The Prince’s Trust Scotland with a flying opportunity.

“I look forward to continuing RAF Leuchar’s partnership with local Prince’s Trust teams.”
