NORTH East Fife MP, Sir Menzies Campbell has described the decision to close Cupar's driving test centre as "flawed".
Sir Menzies is continuing to fight against the closure of the Burnside centre, and has again written to Jim Fitzpatrick, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, to press the case for keeping it open.

He said: "The minister has informed me that the Cupar test centre will close on September 30, but I am not prepared to accept this without a fight.

"I have called on the minister to review this decision and to carry out an up-to-date examination of local circumstances which in my view more than justify keeping the Cupar centre open."

In his letter, Sir Menzies told Mr Fitzpatrick: "There is a strongly held view locally that the decision to close the Cupar driving test centre is flawed.

"I consider that the rigid adherence to the criteria for the new multi-purpose test centres does not allow local circumstances to be properly considered and taken into account, particularly in a rural constituency such as mine.

"It is clear to me from my conversations with local driving instructors, and other constituents, that there is a genuinely held and strong view that this decision is flawed.

"Can I therefore request that the decision is reviewed and that a more in depth examination is given of the local circumstances."
