CONTROVERSIAL plans to replace a Victorian mansion in Falkland with a purpose-built care home have been revised and resubmitted to Fife Council.
Kingdom Homes has applied to build a 50-bed residential care home and demolish the existing buildings on the site of Edward House.
That is 10 beds fewer than proposed in the original plans that Falkland Community Council and residents in nearby Liquorstane and the Riggs objected to late last year.
Architect John Raeburn said the latest application replaced the earlier one, which was withdrawn in February.
"The building has been reduced by 10 bedrooms and designed as two separate buildings with a glass link between," he said in the application.
Objectors to the original plans said the development would affect their light and privacy, increase traffic and adversely affect the character of Falkland.
Falkland Community Council had supported the principle of a modern care home in the burgh, but was concerned about the scale of the proposal.
At that time Kingdom Homes said Edward House, currently used as a residential home accommodating 26 people, was no longer fit for purpose and the only way its future could be assured was by creating a brand new facility.
The latest application is yet to be considered by Fife Council.
