A woman from Leven is top of the crops after a charity head shave in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Fifty-six-year-old Pauline Pike from the town decided she would take the brave step to be a cut above the rest and raise vital funds for the national cancer charity.
And to make sure her efforts were witnessed by as many as possible, the head shave took place on Saturday evening at the town’s Bar 25 on Durie Street.
Explaining why she chose Cancer Research UK, Pauline said: “I’ve lost a number of friends to the disease and there’s someone in my family going through it right now, so I wanted to raise money for the charity.”
It was up to local hairdresser Adrian Rudge to do the honour, but Pauline said she is actually getting used to her new ‘do’.
“I quite like it now – lots of people have told me I actually quite suit it.”
Thanks to donations before the event and on the night, Pauline has already raised a fantastic £1000 for the charity, and still has some funds to come.
Cancer Research UK – which conducts research into over 200 different types of cancer – relies entirely on donations to carry out its work, with no government funding.
