Staff at a local hairdressing salon are giving something back as the business celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The team at Alison Stewart Hairdressing are preparing to take a leap of faith this weekend as some of them, along with family and friends, take part in the Highland Fling bungee jump at Killiecrankie on Sunday in a bid to raise money for eight-year-old Katie Davidson.

Katie, who is the niece of stylist Nicki Harley, was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer in October last year. The youngster lives in Thornton with her twin brother Hamish, mum Alana and stepdad Chris.

The 15 strong team who are preparing to do the 132ft jump have currently raised over £2500 for Katie’s fund.

And the salon has also decided to continue their fundraising by organising the Katie Davidson Charity Ball, which will take place at Balbirnie House Hotel in Markinch on Sunday, October 19.

The money raised will go towards Katie’s chemotherapy, but it will also be for her family to be together on an unforgettable holiday.

Tickets for the fundraising ball, priced £50, are available from the Alison Stewart salons in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.

The night promises to be filled with great food, music, magicians and lots of laughter - all for a good cause. Local businesses have been offering their support and some amazing auction and raffle prizes have been donated and will be up for grabs on the night.
