Youngsters in Elie were going bananas at the weekend for a new summer youth club.
Urchins is adding a whole new dimension to messing about on the water, giving children the opportunity to get a taste of a variety of watersports.
The new club, for six to 14-year-olds, is the brainchild of East Neuk activity centre Elie Watersports.
The morning youth club’s season started with a banana-themed beach party, when the celebrations included free rides on the centre’s popular inflatable banana boat and a banana barbecue.
Angus Meldrum, founder of Elie Watersports, said: “As a parent I know it can be challenging to entertain the kids during the summer break and at weekends.
“Coming along to our new youth club on a Saturday morning is a brilliant way of getting kids to switch off their online gadgets and switch on to the water.
“It’s a chance to do something different, make new friends and have some fun.
“It won’t matter if it’s raining and we can even supply wet suits. It’s real all-weather fun.”
Urchins is on every Saturday, from 10 am till 12 noon, throughout the summer until the end of September.
Children get to enjoy a two-hour supervised session and try their hands at all kinds of watersports, including kayaking, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, sailing and a spin round Elie Bay on the centre’s fun inflatable rides.
Located in the sheltered waters of Elie Bay, Elie Watersports offers many activities and is an accredited RYA Training Centre for sailing, windsurfing, powerboat and safety boat courses.
The next session of Urchins is on July 5 - numbers are not restricted and it is a case of the more the merrier.
To join in the fun, just turn up on the day at 10 am.
