A DUNSHALT dog walker got a shock when he found an air rifle near the village playpark.
The man stumbled across the weapon, which was in its cover, at around 11pm on Monday, January 2.
It was lying in the road on Ivy Place, near the junction with Chapel Road.
The local, who did not wish to be named, described the incident as ‘disturbing’.
Police were on the scene within minutes and took the rifle away.
A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said: “I can confirm that a .22 air rifle in its cover was found lying in the roadway near to the playpark in Dunshalt.
“It was taken to Cupar police station as found property.”
