Store manager Kenny Leslie and his team, which is made up of 20 staff members, enjoyed welcoming customers into the new store. On the day, Kenny said: “There was a fantastic buzz down at the store this morning and it was great to see so many people down here for our golden ticket opening event.
“Whilst our DJ host entertained the crowds, the team and I were only too pleased to introduce shoppers to Aldi’s extensive range of products at affordable prices. I look forward to welcoming even more customers to our new store over the coming months.”

The store has been eagerly awaited in the town with it first seriously suggested back in 2004 however it wasn’t until 2008 that it had a planning application approved.
This was then subsequently resubmitted by the company later that year in a bid to make “better use of the site” but work didn’t begin on the land until earlier this year.
