The creativity of a Levenmouth school pupil is being rewarded with a front-cover slot on a national catalogue.

Alix Davidson, of Buckhaven High School, submitted a picture for a contest run by Specialist Crafts Ltd., a firm used by colleges and schools across the country for the supply of art materials.

Around 300 entries were considered from art enthusiasts of various ages - and Alix’s interpreation of a hand holding fruit was chosen as the winner.

Her design will now grave the front cover of the company’s catalogue, which is available in January.

Alix, of Leven – now in S5 but a fourth-year pupil when the work was produced – was happy to have the chance to enter but very surprised to win, said her teacher, Gillian McLaren.

Everyone at Buckhaven High was very proud of the honour, as the catalogue was widely used around the country.

Her work – which can be viewed on Specialist Crafts’ gallery website – was entitled ‘Nature’s Bounty’ and she chose fruit becuase of its richness in colour and texture.
