There was plenty to sample in the new-look Glen Convenience Store in Leven recently with a special charity tasting event and raffle.

A few people braved a bitter, freezing night – for which owner Audrey Cunningham was very grateful – to come out and try a range of delicacies to raise money for the Rachel House children’s hospice.

Tempting morsels included soft drinks, hot chocolate, marshmallows, cake, pasta, pizza, pies, sausage rolls, cappucino, bagels and various sandwich fillings.

The weather was so severe, however, that Audrey kept the tasting session going the next day, and the event gathered over £1400 in total.

The occasion was also to mark a two-week refit at the well-known Scoonie Road shop, and local businesses responded by putting up a tremendous range of raffle prizes.

These included a mountain bike, a table for four at the Balbirnie House Hotel, luxury food hampers, a photoshoot and passes for Methil’s Culture Health and Fitness gym.
