Award-winning Levenmouth butcher Amos Smith is back again among the meat elite – this time for his sausages.
He’s established a strong Scottish link to the forthcoming British Sausage Week, with one of his creations being voted the best by his professional colleagues in a recent contest.

A beef sausage with smokey bacon, made by the top Buckhaven butcher, is to be the showpiece promotion for the week, which runs from November 2-8.
Amos, of W. F. Stark, in College Street, received a £500 prize from sponsor Dalesman in exchange for the recipe, which is now being made available to Scottish craft butchers, for them to make and perfect in time for next month.
Every year, BPEX (the British Pig Executive) promotes British Sausage Week, but it is an English promotion body which few Scottish butchers can access.
The Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Associaton therefore stepped in to give Scottish butchers something to promote around Bonfire Night, when sausages can be very popular buys.
With the help of its corporate members, the Dalesman Group, SFMTA set up a competition – judged by butchers, and won by Amos.
Amos said: “There are a lot of butchers out there who work hard and gain awards, so for them to have voted for it, I am absolutely chuffed. My driving force behind all this includes my customers, staff, and the support I get.”
