Responsible dog owners in Kinross-shire are being invited to the official launch of the Green Dog Walkers campaign, which takes place in Milnathort Town Hall on Wednesday, January 13.

The event, which takes place between 11am and 1pm, is to be hosted by staff from Loch Leven Nature Reserve, who are supporting local professional dog walker Lindsay Robertson in her bid to clean up the area.

The Green Dog Walkers initiative was launched in 2008 and runs successfully throughout the UK.

It is a non-confrontational approach to encouraging people to pick up after their pets.

Participants wear a green armband - or their dog wears a green collar - to show they have taken a pledge to always clean up after their dogs, and they carry extra poo bags to offer to those without.

The scheme has been particularly successful in Falkirk, where there are around 1000 Green Dog Walkers, and Lindsay hopes that around 200 will sign up in Kinross-shire.
