An East Neuk couple are celebrating the expansion of their business with the knowledge they are creating local employment opportunities.
Craig and Linda Thomson purchased two business premises on Anstruther’s Shore to expand their lifestyle and tourism business, At The Shore.
They have renovated them into The Boathouse, a beer/wine bar and coffee bar bistro, and also offers self catering accommodation.
Craig, former principal of Adam smith College, commented, “We believe it is important to create local employment opportunities where able – we have employed ten staff since the launch of The Boathouse and have employed local tradesmen wherever possible in the renovation of the bar and bistro.”
He continues, “We also apply this ethos to the sourcing of produce – some of our seafood arriving daily on the harbour side 20 metres from our front door.”
Their venture was made possible thanks to a £130,000 RBS commercial loan backed by the Government’s Funding for Lending Scheme.
The couple also hope to will be partnering with local businesses to provide arts and leisure activities.
