A Welsh man has called on the readers of the Mail to help him trace the best friend of his father who was tragically killed 31 years ago.
Nick Shellard from Cardiff has appealed for information about a man who he simply knows as ‘George’ who was best friends with his father Clive Shellard when he worked at RGC Methil up until 1982.
Sadly, after Clive had moved to Shetland to work at the Sullom Voe Terminal later that year, he was killed in a road accident aged just 25.
Nick was only three years old at the time, but says he remembers visiting his father whilst he was working in Methil, and says George turned babysitter to let his mother and father have a night out.
Nick said: “I would like to get in touch with George simply because he was my father’s best friend and my mother has not seen him since he came to my father’s funeral in Cardiff.”
At the time of his death, Clive was actually the Northern District Scottish Boxing Champion, and Nick is keen to know if George, or anyone else in the area witnessed any of his fights, especially his championship fight.
