Police are appealing for witnesses after a sheep was killed near Dalgety Bay.
The incident happened some time between 4pm on October 18 and 11.30am the following day at the Bouprie Farm to the west of the B9157.
After receiving a call from a neighbour, the owner attended on his land where he found the tupp, which appeared to have sustained a number of significant injuries, causing its death.
Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of how the animal was killed and officers are asking anyone who may assist their investigation to come forward.
Sergeant Kate Blackwell said: “The farmer is deeply upset at the death of his only tupp, which was worth around £600.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around this farmland between October 18 and 19 and would ask that they contact police immediately.
“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this inquiry is also asked to get in touch.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
