FOLLOWING on from another successful year of fundraising the East Neuk Wheelchair Appeal is once again making the difference to local lives.

The latest recipent of the charity is Leven man Alan Hall, who has been given a chair - so he can have his legs elevated giving him more comfort whilst watching TV - rather than sitting in a wheelchair all day.

Mr Hall, who has cerebal palsy and diabetes, has problems with circulation and the chair will assist in helping to take the weight off his legs.

Since its beginnings in 1989 when the Anstruther group was founded, it has raised over £450,000 and gifted more than 100 powered and 29 manual wheelchairs, along with donations of tens of thousands of pounds to local and national charities.

Eleanor Bowman, chair of the appeal, said she hoped Mr Hall would benefit from the use of his chair and praised those who had supported the charity throughout 2011.

She added: “We are so grateful to everyone who supports our appeal at our coffee mornings, charity dinners and the patrons of The Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline who eagerly throw their money into our buckets when we do a collection.”

“We’d also like to take the opportunity in wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year and we look forward to another successful year fundraising.”
