An amateur cup final held at the ground of Kennoway Star Hearts on Friday evening was abandonded after a bottle was allegedly thrown from the touchline.

Fife Amateur Football Association’s (FAFA) Bedlam Promotions (Division 2) Cup Final between Denbeath and Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts was abandoned with 12 minutes remaining.

Inverkeithing were 2-1 up when a Denbeath player was reported to have been struck in the face by an object, thought to be a beer bottle, thrown from behind a goal.

The injured player, Craig Craigie, was later treated in hospital for concusion and received two stiches to a head wound.

Police were called the ground at Treaton Park following reports of a number of fights breaking out between fans and players.

Four squad cars and a riot van attended the scene. Police later made three arrests.

A police spokesman said two men aged 24 and 29 had been charged with assault and a 55-year-old man was charged with perverting the course of justice.
