A GLENROTHES planner has been selected by her peers for a prestigious professional award.

Lorna Shand has received a commendation for outstanding student achievement in the recent national Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards.

The 23-year-old planning officer with TAYplan impressed tutors at Heriot-Watt University on her MSc in urban and regional planning course with her ability to apply spatial planning theories to working practice and then develop creative and practical solutions.

Lorna said: “I am delighted to have had my work recognised by the RTPI, particularly at this early stage in my career.

“As the professional body, recognition from the RTPI for an area of work that I have a particular interest in was especially welcome.”
