If you went down to Elie beach on Sunday, you were in for a big surprise.

For every Santa that ever there was, was gathered there for a Santa Fun Run.

Perhaps not every Santa - but dozens of Mr and Mrs Clauses turned up for the East Neuk o’Fife Round Table’s second one mile charity Santa fun-run at Elie beach.

Despite the sometimes wet and always windy weather Santas - and reindeer - turned out to raise funds for local charities supported by the Round Table, and made a magnificent £1000.

Ailsa Cruickshanks took home the Golden Mince Pie as the fastest entrant. She was closely followed by the fastest Mr Claus, Adrian Wood, while the Silver Stick prize for oldest runner was Sheila Guthrie.

For the youngsters there was a separate reindeer race, which saw the under-10s setting off equipped with antlers - though most preferred carrying them to wearing them.

A Round Table spokesperson said “We are delighted to have organised another successful community fund raiser and are indebted to several local businesses for their support- Hardies, The Preservation Company, Thorntons Law, Icopal and Elie Pavilion.”
