TWO Kirkcaldy friends are set to put their best feet forward to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.
Ryan Rowan (16) and Robert Bowie (15) are doing a sponsored run from Kirkcaldy to Kinghorn and back on April 14 to collect money for our Maggie’s Centre.
Ryan, who works with his dad at Rowan Roofing in the town, told The Press he wanted to do something to help Robert’s mum Kirsty who was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma at the start of December.
He said: “I am really close to my friend’s mum and when I heard she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, which is treatable, I wanted to help her out any way I could.
“Me and Robert decided to do a sponsored run to raise money for a charity of Kirsty’s choice and she wanted the money to go to Maggie’s Fife.”
Ryan said they are also being joined on the run by his teammates from Kirkcaldy Athletic 97s!
“I mentioned I was doing this to my coach and my pals at the football and they said they would do it as well. I am not sure yet how much money we are wanting to raise, just as much as we possibly can.”
He added: “We are looking forward to doing the run and collecting money for a good cause.”
