A woman from Buckhaven is starting 2014 with more than a smile on her face after winning £25,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Jean Low, 61, said of her big win: “I don’t think I’ll ever come down from this high.”
After eagerly phoning her two daughters and son to tell them the good news, there was just one person left to tell - her husband Bill.
“I phoned everyone to tell them but no one could get through to Bill,” she said. “He has bad phone reception at work so by the time he found out, everyone else already knew.”
And Jean already has big plans on how to use her winnings, including a holiday spending money and treating her large family.
“I’ve actually just booked a trip to Mississauga, Canada in May to visit my sister Isabel with my other sister Peggy,” she said. “Peggy is 76 so it may well be her last long haul holiday so it’s a special one. It’s great because I don’t have to worry about spending money now.”
Street prize presenter, Judie McCourt, said: “January can be a miserable month but not for our winner Jean! I love presenting winners with cheques and Jean was clearly delighted. Our prize plan has increased for 2014 and our Saturday Street Prizes have risen from £10,000 to £25,000 – Jean will be glad she didn’t win last month.”
