St Andrews Botanic Gardens marked the end of a successful summer with a special festival last weekend.

Visitors to the garden were treated to a variety of activities with a horticultural theme - from apple pressing to bulb planting, learning about fruit trees to drawing the bugs that the garden needs to survive. Special guided walks through the gardens were accompanied by music from several bands including Dysart Brass Band.

Looking forward to the season of mellow mists and fruitfulness a programme of talks, walks and activities is planned, included classes on botanical illustration, and a special class aimed at making a herbal confection box - with chocolates, oils and a mulled wine mix all on the menu.
