WHAT does every son want after completing a British Special Forces designed assault course?

A hug from mum of course.

Lower Largo’s Liam (left) and Kieran Mika were delighted to be held up by mum Fiona following their exertions doing the Toughmudder course at Drumlanrig Castle, outside Dumfries.

But Ms Mika was just as happy to help, despite the mud and sweat, as her sons had raised £1200 for the charity Fibromyalgia UK.

Ms Mika herself suffers from the little known condition, which causes musculoskeletal pain and fatigue, and the boys’ efforts and money will go a long way to not only raising awareness, but also funding research.

After he had got his breath back, Kieran said: “We couldn’t have ran the 12 miles being plunged into ice pools, getting shocked from dangling electric wires and conquering ‘Everest’ without the encouraging donations we received and the teamwork and camaraderie shown by fellow mudders. Bring on next year!”
