A BURNTISLAND man made a special delivery recently ... his baby daughter Kayleigh!
Kenny Swan and his partner Sandra McFarlane (33) had been preparing for their new arrival last Friday.
They just didn’t expect her to make an appearance as quickly as she did!
Kenny (34) said he was incredibly proud to deliver his baby girl ... and surprised at how calm he was!
He told The Press: “Kayleigh was due the day before, on the Thursday, but on Friday Sandra woke up at 1 a.m with contractions.
“She woke me at 2 a.m but there wasn’t any point in leaving for the hospital until the contractions were under four minutes.
“An hour later the pain was getting unbearable, and she wanted to have a bath.
‘‘She was in more and more pain and started screaming so we thought it was time for her to go to hospital.
‘‘She was in the bathroom and struggling to stand up. I phoned my stepmum Jan who was the second birthing partner.
“I then phoned for an ambulance and stayed on the line while one was sent out.”
Kenny then described seeing his baby girl’s head.
He added: “I was nervous because I knew I would have to get to the door to let them in but I then saw the head.
‘‘Kayleigh just came out. It happened very quickly.
‘‘I had a clean towel and wrapped her in it before handing her to Sandra.
‘‘My stepmum was on her way over when she saw the ambulance and by the time she got to us Kayleigh was already here. ‘‘
The baby was born at 5.52 a.m. and weighed 7lb 12oz,
Sandra was taken to hospital , but allowed home later that afternoon.
Kenny added: “I can’t believe how calm I was and it actually felt like something I had done before, which was weird.
‘‘I just feel really proud.”
