THERE were smiles all round at Methil’s Aberhill bus depot, as it did the business for Comic Relief in a special contest.

Following an exciting driving challenge, held by Stagecoach in Fife’s employees to support the Comic Relief cause, the sum initially raised has now been doubled, thanks to Stagecoach UK Bus.

The UK-wide firm pledged that the depot which collected the most money would have its total match-funded.

With over £2000 being raised by Aberhill depot from the event, this brought the overall total for Comic Relief to £4066.50.

On the day, entrants were able to experience what it’s like to drive a double decker bus while following a planned, marked route, complete with obstacles set on Crail Airfield.

The winner of the event was Mark McMullen, whose father Danny is a revenue inspector with Stagecoach, while the 20 or so participants received certificates.

Sarah Boyd, operations director for Stagecoach in Fife said: “We are proud of the efforts our employees made to raise money for this worthy cause, and even more so after finding out we raised more than any other depot in the UK.”
