AN EAST Wemyss woman has launched her own holistic therapies business in Buckhaven, thanks to a cash boost of £500.

Lisa Proudfoot launched Levenmouth Counselling Service and Lisa’s Holistic Therapies in May after receiving the grant as part of Business Gateway Fife’s ‘Be Your Own Boss’ scheme.

Lisa, who still works as a rehabilitation assistant for the NHS, can now use the money to purchase vital equipment, such as a massage bed, towels and aromatherapy oils.

The BYOB scheme was set up in 2007 to help residents living in disadvantaged communities In Fife set up in business. So far it has helped 579 Fife businesses get started.

Lisa is thankful for all of the help she received from Business Gateway, adding: “I was delighted when I heard that I’d secured the BYOB grant too. I’ve back, shoulder and neck issues so being able to buy the bed so early on is particularly great news as it will help me raise clients to the correct height during a treatment session so I don’t aggravate my problems.”
