Business chiefs look to the ‘microgeneration’ Fife market

A study to review the progress of the microgeneration market in Fife has now been completed by Fife Council.

Microgeneration is small scale renewable energy installations, which effectively pay the owner for the energy they generate.

Since 1999, 416 planning applications have been received in Fife, including 253 for wind power and 106 for solar power.

The study also identified that Fife currently has the largest solar PV installation registered in Scotland, at Muir Construction.

Councillor Tony Martin, Strategic Chair of the Environment, Enterprise and Transportation Committee, commented: “Fife Council through the Green Business Fife network and Fife Construction Forum are working together to promote the use of solar PV in new buildings. They recently held a Fife Showcase for Building Technologies, which attracted over 140 delegates from across the construction industry.”
