SHOPPERS in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes are being offered the chance to trial an exciting new mobile payment system from Fife company PayWizard to pay for goods and services in participating retail outlets.

PayWizard, part of the MGt Group, supported by a growing list of retailers is running a three month trial of PayWizard Tap which allows customers to use their Android phone, iPhone 4 (S) or iPod Touch to make payments instore quickly, conveniently and safely.

The system allows customers to pay using ‘bump’ technology which transfers payments from handset to handset without needing to use cards or cash. Shoppers simply tap their phone against the merchant’s PayWizard Tap station to make a payment and can then track what they have spent using the PayWizard app.

Among those local businesses already signed up to the trial include Alison Stewart Hairdressing Kirkcaldy, Kino Cinema Glenrothes, Cartridge World, Cluny Clays, Cuppa Coffee House, Eloise, Simply Scrumptious and The Pancake Place.

Retailers wishing to be involved in the trial are encouraged to contact PayWizard directly at their Kirkcaldy base.

Jonathan Guthrie, CEO at MGt/PayWizard, said: “Mobile payments will play an increasingly important role in retail but getting the proposition right is crucial.

“The technology needs to be accessible, secure, convenient and easy to use for both merchants and customers and that is what we have set out to do with PayWizard Tap.

“We are looking forward to working closely with local merchants in the Fife area over the next three months to make this trial a success for everyone involved.”
