A charity gig to be held at Society will be a family affair to raise money for the Victoria Radio Network (VRN).
Eight bands will play for free at the event on Sunday, September 7, which also has activities for children, in an attempt to raise funds for the radio station which has been broadcasting from Victoria Hospital since 1971.
The fundraiser was organised by 21-year-old Cally Baldwin from Glenrothes who presents her own show ‘Cally’s Corner’ on VRN every Wednesday at 6.00 p.m.
She said: “This is my first attempt since I became the fundraiser on the VRN committee. I didn’t think it would get so big!
“I’ve had a lot of help from my mum and we’ve had lots of donations from local businesses for raffle prizes and we’ve been given things from Rangers, East Fife and Raith Rovers to auction which I’m really grateful for.
“Leigh Snowdon at Society has been a big help too.”
Leigh, events manager at Society, said: “We were happy to accommodate.
“Cally’s worked really hard on this.”
The eight bands playing are Dog On A String, Return To The Sun, Forbes, The Mona Lisas, Unknown On A Sunday, Vanishing People, Vertebrae and Dave McNeil and there will be mascots for kids.
Cally said: “We’re hoping to have one or two surprises but we’ve definitely got a Minion from ‘Despicable Me’ and Princess Elsa from ‘Frozen’ coming along!”
The event, which will be hosted by Kingdom FM’s Vanessa Motion, begins at 4.00 p.m. and children can stay until 7.30 p.m.
Tickets are £7 for adults, £3.50 for children under 18 and children under 12 are free. They are available from Cally on 07554585292, emailing email@example.com or from Society.
