Pre-school children across Levenmouth have been getting a taste of football thanks to local club East Fife.

Over the past month, East Fife Youth Academy have been visiting nursery schools within the Levenmouth area.

Supported by Active Schools Fife, over 250 children have received a block of football tasters delivered by Scott Wallace.

Scott explained: “The nursery programme aims to get children playing football at an early age. The sessions work on balance & coordination as well as incorporating colours, numbers and simple commands all to develop the child not only in football but with very basic communication and listening skills”

Children from Mountflurie, Denbeath, Paxton, Viewforth, Buckhaven, St Agathas, Balcurvie and Woodlands nurseries have benefited from the programme.

Jennifer Mann, Active Schools co-ordinator, added: “Thanks to East Fife Youth Academy children are being offered opportunities to experience a locally based sport.

“So far it has been a great success and had nothing but positive feedback for the programme with children and their parents being sign posted to the Academies wee fifers programme”
