Parents and carers of two year olds in Levenmouth and the surrounding area are being encouraged to check whether their child is eligible for Early Learning and Childcare from October this year.

Two year olds who are eligible now have the opportunity for a nursery place (Early Learning and Childcare), following an announcement by The Scottish Government earlier this year.

More than 253 two year olds across Fife are now attending nursery, however there are still many more eligible families who have not yet taken up the opportunity.

It’s expected that within the next year, more than 9,000 two year olds in Fife will have a place, and in Levenmouth, there are more than 70 places available at four nursery schools.

Councillor William Campbell, Fife Early Years ambassador, has asked all parents of two year olds to come forward to ensure Fife Council has the right provision in place.

He added: “While we have had a huge interest since we first introduced the change in June, we want to make sure all eligible families are aware their child can access an early learning and childcare place.”

To find out if your child is eligible for a free place, you can go to www.fifedirect.org.uk or just pick up a leaflet in any Fife Council nursery.
