The last two weekends in Leven have been devoted to days of doggie activity.

The charity Scottish Pyrenean Rescue took the lead at Letham Glen, while FEAT (Fife Employment Action Trust) teamed up the previous weekend with Second Chance Kennels to stage Paws at Silverburn.

The Pyrenean charity held a family fun day on Saturday with a companion dog show on Sunday, to highlight its work in helping to care for and rehome Pyrenean mountain dogs, and to showcase the Glen as a venue for community events, following the reopening of the Letham Glen Community Support Centre.

Saturday’s fesitivities featured dog agility displays, stalls – including home-baked biscuits for dogs – attractions for youngsters and performances by various groups, followed on Sunday by the dog show.

Local rescue co-ordinator Eileen Blair said the event attracted a good crowd and had drawn the community together. Over £650 had been raised for the charity.

‘Paws at Silverburn’ was billed as ‘a day filled with dogs’ and allowed visitors the chance to spend some quality time with their ‘K9s’.
