Young artists from Buckhaven and Kirkland High Schools were invited to enter a competition as part of Fall for the Arts, on the theme of ‘Being Me’.
And the winner, whose work was bought and framed as part of her prize, was 16-year-old Higher Art pupil Carly Gillon, from Buckhaven High. Carly, of Leven, loves horse riding and chose that as her subject – but she composed a picture of some of the equipment associated with it, rather than the obvious choice of a horse, such as a rosette, riding crop, and more.
Carly, who hopes to be an art teacher, said she also liked doing pictures of reptiles and working with bright colours. She said it was very good for her and contemporaries to get their work “out there” and the Beehive presentation was good for younger artists. The runner up prizes were awarded to Kayleigh Sinden, Jasmine Serman, Yasmin Fernandez and Shona Elder.
