Carnival time for Face of Fife Rio

Life is just grand for our Face of Fife winner Rio Brennan!

The 19-year-old beauty therapist from Burntisland is still coming back down to earth after her well-deserved win in our spectacular fashion and beauty final held in Kitty’s in Kirkcaldy on Sunday.

Rio’s stunning looks and figure, and friendly personality wowed the judges who had the unenviable task of chosing the top three from our 12 gorgeous finalists.

And speaking on Tuesday, Rio said she had “enjoyed every single minute of the experience.”

“The whole day was fantastic. When it was announced that I had won I couldn’t believe my ears.

‘’I turned round to look at Jade who said ‘Yes, it’s you’ before I actually believed that I had heard correctly.”

The former Queen Anne High School pupil, who works at Facial Expression beauty salon in Dunfermline, said the atmosphere behind the scenes had been great.

“Everyone was really nice - we all supported each other,” she said.

“I was really nervous before I went on the catwalk.

‘‘But I tried to look confident because that’s what the judges wanted to see.”

Rio is no stranger to beauty competitions and made the top 14 of the Miss Scotland last year.

“It was a good experience. I enjoy entering these types of competitions.”

It was Rio’s mum, Victoria Cutmore, and her gran who persuaded her to enter the Face of Fife - and she said she thought the competition was tough.

“My mum and I looked through all the pictures in the Press and we thought there were a lot of pretty girls.

‘‘But when we arrived on the day they were all even prettier in real life!

‘’I really didn’t expect to win.

“I had a lot of support and my mum and stepdad were there at the competition, but my little brother Kailin (13) wasn’t feeling well, so he couldn’t come along.

‘‘But my cousin was there and when I won she said she couldn’t wait to go to school to tell everyone how gorgeous her cousin was, which was really nice.”

Rio plans to put some of her £500 win towards buying a car, but she says she will use some of it to buy her mum a bottle of her favourite perfume – to stop her from stealing hers!

“I had a great day and to win made it even better,” she said. “I was so tired afterwards I had to go for a sleep!”
