A star St Andrews chef is leaving the town to head up a Michelin starred kitchen on the Isle of Skye.

Scott Davies, head chef at St Andrews restaurant The Adamson is to move to the renowned Three Chimneys restaurant on the Isle of Skye this summer.

It means that the two St Andrews chefs who were runners-up in BBC’s Masterchef the Professionals in 2013 have left the town.

Adam Handling, formerly of the Fairmont, is now at London’s Caxton restaurant.

Mr Davies’ moved was announced simultaneously by the Three Chimneys andThe Adamson this week.

He described the move to a Michelin-starred restaurant as a dream come true.

“When I started at The Adamson, the idea of becoming chef in a Michelin starred restaurant with all the opportunities that offers was only a dream.”

Mr Davies paid tribute to the team at The Adamson: “My time at this incredible restaurant has taught me many things. The team that has supported me – encouraging me to enter Masterchef in 2013 – has given me the confidence to believe that I can make that step.”

The Adamson described Mr Davies’ move as “an incredible career move for him.

“Scott is working with us on his replacement,” the restaurant added, promising to announce the new head chef soon . The new chef is expected to work alongside Scott until he moves Skye.
