A beauty queen is preparing to host a charity fundraiser in Glenrothes this weekend.
Cheryl Russell was named Miss Peace and Charity Queen 2014 back in March and as part of her role she has been throwing herself into charity work.
The event at the town’s Gilvenbank Hotel on Saturday is just the latest in a series of fundraisers she’s been involved in.
The dental nurse will be joined by a number of fellow beauty pageant title holders as she helps raise money for Cancer Research UK and raise awareness of both prostate and breast cancer.
Those attending the fundraiser are asked to wear something with a touch of pink or blue and there will be a DJ, buffet and raffles.
Cheryl told the Gazette: “It’s important to raise awareness as not everyone has the confidence if they find something suspicious to come forward and ask for help or go to a GP or also are not aware of the symptoms or signs to look out for. Cancer Research is my chosen charity as without the help of the public and fundraising events there can be barely any research to provide possible cures, diagnosis and treatment.”
