ONE of the area’s top musical ensembles, the East Fife Ladies Choir, has announced a pair of pre-Christmas dates and a show in Levenmouth in 2013.
The group is due to give its annual Christmas Fayre concert on December 7 in Wellesley Parish Church, Methil, featuring festive carols and songs, accompanied by pupils from Kirkcaldy North primary.
On December 14, the ladies are on stage at St Joseph’s Church in Burntisland, with an instrumental group from St Andrew’s High School.
Another date is in the diary, for March 22 next year, with a charity concert at St Agatha’s Church in Methil, on behalf of the Leven-based Drug and Alcohol Project.
The ladies also hope pupils from St Agatha’s Primary School in Leven will be accompanying them.
The group performs a diverse range of music and gives regular charity concerts, as well as competing in music festivals.
Formed in 1960, the choir’s first rehearsals were in Denbeath Miners Welfare Club and it practises today at Kirkland High School in Methil.
The choir has around 60 members, of all ages and backgrounds, “who enjoy singing and performing a variety of music, from Cantique de Jean Racine to Abba”.
