Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a number of housebreakings in Newport over the past week.

Between Thursday, November 19, and today (Tuesday) four homes in Robert Street, Victoria Street and Queen Street have been targeted.

Various items of personal property, including a number of goods that were intended as Christmas presents were stolen from inside.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish if these incidents are linked and anyone who can assist officers with their investigation is asked to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Alec Raeside said: “As part of Operation RAC we are actively trying to trace those responsible for these break-ins and I would ask that anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around these areas contacts police immediately.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation should also get in touch.

“The public are reminded to take all the necessary security measures to ensure their home is not an attractive target for criminals. Simple measures such as keeping doors and windows locked, storing valuables out of sight and securing all sheds, garages and outbuildings will help keep your property safe.
