One of Levenmouth’s most dedicated church elders has secured a prestigious honour.
Linda Young, of Buckhaven and Wemyss Parish Church, has capped a 40-year association with the Church of Scotland Guild by being named as its national vice-convener for the coming year.
Her colleagues in Kirkcaldy Presbyterial Council wished her “every blessing” in the role, while Linda, from East Wemyss, said: “It’s one of the greatest priveleges I could possibly have within the Guild. It’s very humbling to think other people have put their faith in me to help bring the Guild, which I love, to the forefront.
“Kirkcaldy is not a big presbytery, compared to some others, so to get to do this is wonderful.”
Linda, wife of local councillor, Jim Young, was chosen by the national executive committee. A very experienced worker, most recently as Guild Council convener, she plays a key role in community projects such as the local foodbank and, in recent years, has focused on raising the profile of the Prayer Shawl Ministry across the movement.
She will take up her post after the General Assembly in May and said her main duties would be supporting the new national convener and promoting the Guild.
