Ordination Ceremony: ST Maries RC Church enjoyed a weekend of extra special celebrations recently when local man John Deighan returned after three years study at Scots College in Rome, prior to his ordination into the Priesthood. On Saturday, June 30, family, friends and well-wishers travelled to St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh for the ordination ceremony, carried out by Cardinal Keith Patrick O’Brien. The following day a packed church joined Father John in Kirkcaldy to celebrate his first Holy Mass in his home parish. Tokens of affection were presented from many parish groups representing all ages, from children at his former primary school to the oldest parishioner. The weekend culminated with a buffet lunch for more than 200 people in the church hall.
