Staff nurse Pauline O’Donnell is feeling the cold after having her hair shaved off for two worthy charities.

Pauline (37), from Markinch, who works in the ear, nose and throat department of Victoria Hospital did the challenge in the foyer of the hospital next to the Costa coffee shop, watched by family and friends.

And so far she has raised £800 for Cancer Research UK and £600 for Diabetes UK, with more money still coming in.

The shave was carried out by Ludna Hadoura, a consultant in Pauline’s department, and many of her colleagues took turns cutting off bits of hair before it was shaved.

Pauline, a mum of three, said: “Even though I knew it was coming I still got a bit of a shock when they started doing it. My daughter said me and her dad are now like twins, because he is bald!”
