As they gear up for the challenge of a new season in the higher echelons of junior football following promotion to the Super League, St Andrews United are celebrating a major sponsorship deal.
The club said it was “delighted” to announce that it has teamed up with Barnetts of St Andrews in a newly agreed partnership, which will see the firm’s name and the Volkswagen logo proudly displayed on the football team’s brand new kit for the 2011-12 season.
General manager of Barnetts, Robert Nee, told the Citizen he was keen to find a way of putting part of the company’s marketing budget towards a prominent local community asset, and felt that the football club’s recent success provided the perfect opportunity to fulfil that aspiration.
He added:”Barnetts has been impressed with the winning mentality and teamwork shown by St Andrews United in achieving promotion to the Super League.
“These qualities reflect our own business goals in offering top level professional service to all our customers throughout Fife and Tayside.
“We hope this will be the start of a long-term and rewarding partnership.”
His sentiments were echoed by David Cunningham, chairman of the football club, who said:”Barnetts of St Andrews is a well-known local company with a prestige brand.
“We are grateful for their support as we venture into the Super League for the first time, and look forward to working together to raise the profile of both St Andrews United and Barnetts Volkswagen in St Andrews for a long time to come.”
