COALTOWN of Balgonie enjoyed its big day on Saturday.
Hundreds of people turned out to watch the colourful parade from Blackwood Road to King George V Park, where a host of activities was enjoyed by those attending.
And, thankfully, the weather - if not sunny - at least remained largely dry.
Chairwoman Sandie Grubb said: “It was a really good day and lots of people said to us that they had had a brilliant time - the park was absolutely full.
“We were lucky with the weather in that all we had was a couple of two minute showers.
“The support from the primary school was also tremendous this year.
“We’d also like to thank all the people who helped out, including parents, partners and friends of the committee who did a great job.”
She added that the committee were always ready to welcome new volunteers on board to help organise next year’s gala.
“Anyone who wants to get involved should telephone 077618 19649,” added another of the organisers, Gayle Moffat.
GALA DAYS: The event provided a colourful spectacle with everything from a Chinese dragon to pipe bands taking part in the parade.
