Stagecoach has announced that a direct service between Glenrothes Bus Station and the sheltered housing complex at Tarvit Green in Stenton will begin.
Residents there had raised concerns with local councillor Peter Grant last year, after changes to the Glenrothes to Kirkcaldy service left the complex with no direct bus to the town centre and residents having to walk to the next bus stop at Mar Drive. Cllr Grant welcomed the new direct bus service serving Tarvit Green.
He said: “Although the extra walk is not much for a fully fit person it was quite an effort for come of the older residents to get back up the hill, especially if they were carrying bags of shopping.
“I passed the residents’ concerns on to Stagecoach and although they couldn’t do anything at the time they undertook to see if there was a way they could provide some kind of service.
“I’m delighted to see that as part of the new timetables they’re introducing next week there will be a new service, the G7, that calls at the turning circle beside Tarvit Green.
“This will be warmly welcomed by the residents and I’m grateful to Stagecoach for finding a way to meet their needs.”
