St Monans could be just a few weeks away from receving a global platform.
The East Neuk village provided the setting in May last year for some scenes in the forthcoming film ‘The Railway Man’.
Starring Oscar winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, the film tells the story of Eric Lomax’s capture and torture by the Japanese during World War II and how he eventually found peace and reconciliation after years of post-war trauma.
The world premiere is in Canada next month with general release scheduled for January 3. If spared the cutting room floor, St Monans and the Auld Kirk could anticipate becoming stars in their own right.
