They may be mad or, to be kind, a wee bit bonkers...but one thing’s certain, dippy East Neuk Dookers are a force to be reckoned with.
Last week, dip organisers Kevin and Fiona Corps presented a cheque for £5000 to Kirkcaldy-based charity Fife Rape and Sexual Assault Centre (FRASAC).
That represented the total raised from the organisation’s 12th dook which saw 49 brave souls jump into the icy waters at Anstruther Harbour on Hogmanay.
There were meant to be 50 participants, but postman Garry Bowman (23) – who missed out due to illness – doggedly took the plunge recently.
FRASAC manager Jan Swan said: “A massive thanks to all the jumpers, the dedication they had to go into that cold water for us was really touching.
“The result is just amazing – that’s the biggest donation we’ve ever been given in the 10 years we’ve been a charity. We’re just blown away.”
Kevin Corps said: “We’d like to thank everyone who took part and the various organisations who helped the event run smoothly – Anstruther Lifeboat Team, East Neuk First Responders, Hugh Bairner our diver and event sponsors, The Bank, Anstruther.”
