A NINETEENyear-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged attempted robbery of two women in Glenrothes on Tuesday evening.

Officers from Fife Division of Police Scotland arrested the man last night.

Chief Inspector Derek McEwan said: “Following extensive investigation during the day and evening of Wednesday, May 8, Police Scotland Fife Division officers arrested a man and recovered a weapon.

“I would like to thank the local community and in particular the local residents of Pitteuchar in Glenrothes for their response following this incident.

“We received valuable information from local people which allowed us to focus our resources resulting in this arrest.

“This again emphasises how important the support of local people are in assisting the police to tackle crime and apprehend offenders.

“I would like to emphasise that these incidents are rare, but sadly when they do occur Police Scotland will leave no stone unturned in identifying those responsible.

“The local community may still see some increased police presence in the area in the near future, however, we are not looking for any one else in connection with this investigation.”
