A Methil man has appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court charged with the murder of a father-of-one.

Forty-one-year-old James Beveridge was rushed to hospital on Saturday after an alleged attacked in Farne Court, Kirkcaldy, around 6pm.

He was described as being in a critical condition in the aftermath of the incident in the Templehall area.

However, he later passed away at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

On Monday, William Paterson (45), of Methil, was charged over the killing.

Facing a single charge of murder on petition he made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

Following a brief private hearing Paterson was remanded in custody ahead of a further court date next week.
