A group of dads is to cross the Forth Road Bridge for charity next Wednesday.

Mellow Dads is the first group of its kind to be run in Fife at the Woodlands Family Centre in Methil and will be raising money for the Forth One Christmas Toy Appeal.

Four dads from the group along with their children and staff from Woodlands, Gilvenhouse Project and Family Support Fife are all taking part in the walk.

Julie Adamson, family support worker, said: “The dads all decided to do something for charity at a recent meeting and decided to walk across the Forth Road Bridge.

“Members of staff from the unit - including myself - have agreed to join in their charity walk. We are not expecting to raise a lot of money but anything helps and that is what counts.”

The Mellow Dads group is part of the Mellow Parenting family programme and the weekly meetings allow dads to discuss any issues that they may have.

It gives them a chance to get advice from other fathers who may have had similar experiences and can help out in any way that they can.

“It is just that little bit different from going to an official service instead for help,” Julie continued.
