CHURCH leaders in north east Fife hope to decide soon on a successor to a well-kent and popular East Neuk minister.
Recommendations are to go before members of St Andrews Presbytery on a possible replacement for the Rev Dr Donald MacEwan, formerly of St Monans Church linked with Largoward.
Dr MacEwan (above) moved on from the parish in August last year after a 10-year tenure, to take up the role of chaplain at St Andrews University.
Interim moderators have stood in for him since then at St Monans and Largoward.
Largo minister the Rev John Murdoch, currently Moderator of St Andrews Presbytery, which oversees the churches in the East Neuk, told the Mail the suggestions were due to be discussed at the monthly Presbytery meeting, which takes place on February 29.
Dr MacEwan’s departure had orignally been discussed in December, after which the Vacancy Procedure Committee (VPC) was tasked with talking to the congregations.
The talks which took place will be reported on when the VPC meets tonight (Wednesday), after which the recommendations will be put forward in a fortnight’s time.
